First off, who is a senior these days? If you ask one 65-year-old they will tell you they are not even close to a senior, but the next one totally believes and embraces the term. Some 55-year-olds think they are seniors and some 70-year-olds are still not quite there. So be very careful with the label senior before some lady in her sixties punches you in the mouth!

We should be thinking more about designing programs for functional ability, not age. Some 55-year-olds are pretty low function and deconditioned, and some 70-year-olds are super fit and would crush that 55-year-old in the same exercise session! We are after all training athletes for the sport of life and that can include all sorts of things: Grocery shopping, laundry, mowing the lawn, volunteering, working, raising grandkids, hiking, biking, skiing, running, swimming, horseback riding, pickleball, golf, walking, birdwatching, traveling, sky-diving and so much more!

If your clients are going to live their very best lives in their 70s, then you have to be training them to prepare for that season!
