When we think about movement longevity, we often focus on what the body is doing — strength, mobility, stability, and balance.

But movement does not begin with action. It begins with perception. Before the body can move well, the brain must first accurately sense and interpret the body itself: where it is in space, how it is organized, and how it relates to the ground and the world around it.
This process of internal awareness is what shapes how we move, adapt, and respond.
At the center of this is body schema — the brain’s internal map of the body. Body schema is built through sensory input and constantly updated through movement, touch, pressure, and position. In the below video, I demonstrate how you can begin to connect to your schema.
True movement longevity is not just about preserving the body — it is about preserving perception, because how we move is ultimately shaped by how clearly we can feel ourselves.
