While my monthly book reviews are typically of newly released fitness, training and programming books, on occasion a book comes across my desk that shares a different perspective of the power and impact of greater insight for fitness professionals. Elizabeth Rae Kovar, fitness professional, freelance writer, Master Trainer presenter for BOSU and ACE and 2017 PFP Trainer of the Year finalist, is also the author of Finding Om. Described as a “travel memoir,” Elizabeth captivates readers with her travels abroad to Australia, back the U.S. where she experienced severe reverse culture shock, then to India where she traveled on the Stuart R. Givens Fellowship grant to India to study yoga. What feels like a suspenseful novel, Finding Om gives the reader insight in to a journey of life, its teachings and lessons, much of which can enrich us as fitness professionals.
