The fitness industry stands tall alongside plummeting businesses in todays economic hard times, with revenues spiking five percent from $17.6 million in 2006 to $18.5 million in 2007, according to the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association.
Also in 2006-2007, health clubs within the US jumped in numbers from 29,357 to 29,636, a one percent increase. However, club membership dropped three percent, from 42.7 million to 41.5 million.
