Ankle sprains are one of the most common injuries, affecting athletes and non-athletes alike. They occur when the ligaments in the ankle stretch or tear due to sudden twisting or rolling movements. While many people try to "walk it off," neglecting proper rehabilitation can lead to chronic pain, instability and a higher risk of future injuries.

One critical yet often overlooked aspect of ankle sprain recovery is proprioception training or the ability of your body to sense joint position and movement without looking. After an ankle sprain, proprioception is often impaired, increasing the risk of re-injury.
One of my favorite ways to rehab the ankle after an ankle sprain is in a slightly plantarflexed position. This ankle position is one of the most common positions of the foot during an ankle sprain, making this exercise highly transferable to functional movement and injury prevention.
In the video below, I will demonstrate how to train ankle stability and proprioception using the Naboso Kinesis Board and a half of a Neuro Ball.
