Continuing education is an important part of the NSCA Certification Commission's role in promoting the ongoing competency of its Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists® (CSCS®) and NSCA-Certified Personal Trainers® (NSCA-CPT®). Though there are many continuing education events available for certified individuals, it can be difficult to find out about the many activities offered by various individuals and organizations.
With a single click of a mouse, strength and conditioning and personal training professionals can use the NSCA Certification Commissions CEU Activity Calendar (www.nsca-cc.org/ceus/calendar.html) to discover the many learning opportunities that qualify for continuing education units (CEUs). The searchable CEU Activity Calendar lists the essential "when" and "where" details about pre-approved CEU activities throughout the
Certified individuals can be certain that the CEU activities listed on the calendar are eligible toward CSCS or NSCA-CPT recertification and have met the NSCA Certification Commissions stringent standards for continuing education. Most of the offerings listed on the calendar qualify for both CSCS and NSCA-CPT continuing education units; any certification-specific exceptions are identified.
Since 1997, the NSCA Certification Commission has increased its recertification rate with each three-year reporting period and maintains its recertification rates above the national average for certification programs. This excellent record of accomplishment validates the NSCA Certification Commissions continuous efforts to meet the demand for strength training and conditioning and fitness professionals who are truly qualified to develop and implement safe and effective training programs.
The NSCA Certification Commission, the certifying agency for the National Strength and Conditioning Association, offers two credentials for fitness professionals. The Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) certifications are considered the Credentials of Distinction in the strength training and conditioning and personal training professions. The NSCA Certification Commission is the only fitness-related organization to offer credentials nationally accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) since 1993.
