Star Trac has announced an alliance with Hansen Beverage Company, the operating subsidiary of Hansen Natural Corporation, a leading marketer of all natural alternative and functional beverages. The two companies plan to work together to find new avenues to motivate and help people achieve a healthier, more active lifestyle.
There is a worldwide health and fitness crisis, said Keith White, director of global branding for Star Trac. We created an initiative called Expect Different to reverse the crisis. The statistics are staggering. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), between 1980 and 2000 obesity rates doubled among adults. Globally, there are currently more than 1.6 billion overweight adults, at least 400 million of them obese, and the numbers are rising. WHO estimates that more than 180 million people worldwide have diabetes. This number is likely to more than double by 2030. In 2005, an estimated 1.1 million people died from diabetes, and it is projected that diabetes deaths will increase by more than 50% in the next 10 years without urgent action.
Expect Different is not a marketing tagline, its a way of doing business and a call to action, explained White. We expect more companies to join the cause were stronger in numbers. The more people we get involved, the more of an impact we can have.
