In the following video with Dawn, the basic movement pattern is the squat, but we will add some more Dual Task sequences to add challenges to work brain health as we train.
It is important as we get into our 40s and beyond to think about how we can add complex movement patterns as well as cognitive tasks such as counting, naming sequences, or recalling events to our training program. Dual-task training is quickly becoming a go-to skill to not only enhance brain health, but to make your training more fun, engaging and even get people laughing. Remember to not add to many things all at once for some clients or it simple becomes overwhelming.
Dawn, the trainer in this video, is in her 50s and you can see how just changing the physical task can change her squat pattern. Some clients struggle more with word games, some more with counting number games, so be sure to have a variety.
