The NSCA Certification Commission has provided the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) and NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer® (NSCA-CPT®) exams to educators, club owners and fitness professionals across the United States with the Exams on Request program since 1993. In 2006, the NSCA Certification Commission will hold CSCS and NSCA-CPT exams at more than 230 requested locations through this program.

Exams on Request is a program that allows individuals to host an exam in their area and conveniently bring the exam directly to their students, employees and/or colleagues, as well as other professionals in their city. To date, the NSCA Certification Commission has held exams in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and more than 15 countries worldwide. More than 4,400 individuals have earned their CSCS and/or NSCA-CPT credentials at sites that were scheduled through the Exams on Request program.

The NSCA Certification Commission realizes the demand for fitness professionals who can safely and effectively design and implement training programs is increasing. By expanding the opportunities for fitness professionals to become CSCS or NSCA-CPT certified, the NSCA Certification Commission is providing the general population with access to knowledgeable and qualified fitness professionals worldwide. The increased opportunities to sit for an exam gives fitness professionals more chances to demonstrate their competency in exercise technique, exercise science, program design and nutrition. These opportunities can translate into increased credibility of skills, quality of service and career advancement.

The NSCA Certification Commission, the certifying agency for the National Strength and Conditioning Association, offers two credentials for fitness professionals. The Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) certifications are considered the Credentials of Distinction in the strength training and conditioning and personal training professions. The NSCA Certification Commission is the only fitness-related organization to offer credentials nationally accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) since 1993.
