IDEA Health & Fitness Association, the leading membership organization of health and fitness professionals worldwide with more than 20,000 members in over 80 countries, announces that its founders, Peter and Kathie Davis, will be among this year's illustrious class inducted into the Wellness Revolution Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the Las Vegas Hilton in Las Vegas.

The Wellness Revolution Hall of Fame honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the cause of wellness-changing the world for the better one person or patient at a time. "This year's honorees have helped tens of millions of people lead happier, healthier and longer lives," says Paul Zane Pilzer, Hall of Fame founder, world-renowned economist and best-selling author. "Their contributions and accomplishments serve as an inspiration to future generations."

The Davises will be honored along with other highly accomplished individuals from the international wellness community, including Tod Cooperman, Steve Demos, Patrick Gentempo, Bob Hoffman, Jill Kinney, Frabrizio Mancini, Joseph Mercola, Carl F. Rehnborg, Russ Reiss, J.I. Rodale, Geoff Tabin, Paul Wenner and Frank Yanowitz.

According to Peter Davis, co-founder and CEO of IDEA Health & Fitness Association, being asked to join the Wellness Revolution Hall of Fame is a strong validation of IDEA's dedication and commitment to the world of fitness over the last 25 years. "Throughout the years, Kathie and I have remained steadfastly focused on our goal to 'inspire the world to fitness' and we're humbled to be recognized for all that IDEA has accomplished," he says. "To be included in such esteemed company gives us more encouragement to continue IDEA's work in helping others experience wellness through body, mind and spirit."

The Davis' indelible contributions to the wellness industry include: -Creating IDEA in 1982 to help fitness professionals gain access to reliable professional information; -Creating the not-for-profit IDEA foundation (now the American Council on Exercise) to offer the industry's first certification; -Composing the first code of ethics for fitness professionals; -Presenting the first awards to recognize professional excellence in fitness fields; -Hosting the first conference specifically targeting fitness professionals in 1984 (IDEA World Fitness Convention); -Delivering the first publication written especially for fitness professionals (now IDEA Fitness Journal); -Creating and hosting the first conference dedicated to experiencing wellness through "body, mind & spirit" (Inner IDEA).

"As IDEA celebrates its 25th anniversary, we are proud to accept this recognition on behalf of our members but also realize that we need to intensify our efforts to help fitness and wellness professionals motivate people of all ages and capabilities," says Kathie Davis, co-founder and executive director of IDEA Health & Fitness Association. "If we all join forces, we can combat the factors that lead to childhood obesity as well as adult sedentary lifestyles while accelerating the wellness revolution for future generations."

Peter and Kathie Davis also will be profiled in Pilzer's latest book, "The New Wellness Revolution," which is expected in bookstores this week. The chapter on the IDEA founders details the story of how two teenagers who attended the same tennis camp when they were 13 turned their chance meeting into an eventual marriage and long-standing business partnership while creating a profound impact on the health and wellness of the world. Their brainchild, IDEA Health & Fitness Association, which started modestly in 1982 as it was operated out of their spare bedroom, has grown steadily under their guidance to become the world's leading member organization of health and fitness professionals.
