Crunch Fitnesss newest location swings open its doors on Sept. 8 in the heart of Union Square at 113 Fourth Ave (at 12th St.). This is Crunchs 12th club in Manhattan and the first new gym opened since the company was sold to Marc Tascher and Angelo Gordon & Co., in January.

The new 21,000 sq./ft., two-level Union Square location boasts top-of-the-line cardiovascular equipment, including the new Nautilus Treadwalkers, surrounded by a cardio theater entertainment system. The club is also host to Crunchs most popular group fitness classes taught by the citys best instructors, including Pole Dancing, Ride in Movie and Hot Yoga. Personal training clients will be able to privately train in Crunchs first-ever personal training studio. Other special sections of the club include a yoga and Pilates studio, sauna, and massage room.

As a gym whose roots began in the heart of the East Village in 1989, Union Square is the perfect spot for Crunch Fitnesss newest flagship club and will anchor the companys presence in downtown Manhattan, said David Fowler, chief operating officer, Crunch Fitness. With the opening of this club, the company embarks on its plan to expand Crunch to reach its core demographics in existing markets.

Crunch Fitness Union Square is not just a typical urban workout facility. Upon entering, members are greeted with a 20-foot dome covering the reception area. After working their way through banks of cardio machines, members can put their feet up in a retro lodge-inspired lounge complete with a flat-screen TV. Some of the other innovative design elements include glow-in-the-dark wallpaper in the spinning studio and glowing glass entryway floors to the locker rooms.

The club's design brings to life Crunch's youthful and irreverent image and its philosophy of fusing entertainment and fitness, said Rebecca Rothman, vice president of marketing for Crunch Fitness. With updated signature Crunch dcor, our members will recognize the energy of the Crunch brand, but with an evolved and more stylized presentation.
Sharing a common entrance lobby with Crunch Fitness Union Square is the Altheus Cyling and Endurance Center, which provides customized cycling gear and personalized performance assessment and coaching for biking and triathlons.
The Crunch Union Square grand opening party will take place on Sept. 27 from 6pm to 8pm, including live entertainment, group fitness class demonstrations, prizes and more. With the addition of the new Union Square gym, Crunch Fitness now has 12 clubs in Manhattan, two clubs in Brooklyn, and one club in Long Island.
