of Sports Medicine president and CEO Dr. Micheal Clark was named to the Business Journal of Phoenixs seventh annual Forty Under 40 list for the Valley. The honor salutes the accomplishments of emerging leaders and executives in a variety of industries throughout the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.


 


This is a special honor for me to receive as a business leader proudly living and working in the Valley, Dr. Clark said. To be recognized by the Business Journal of Phoenix with representatives from other local industries is a rewarding and memorable experience.


 


The winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges from among more than 130 nominations for their career achievements, contributions to the betterment of the communitys future, leadership and vision. All candidates were required to be 39 or younger as of March 1, 2007.


 


Recognized as one of the top physical therapists in the industry, Dr. Clark joined NASM in 2000 and is the creator of the organizations exclusive educational platform, Optimum Performance Training (OPT), a method used by thousands of health and fitness professionals worldwide. His innovative leadership has redefined the Mesa-based NASM as a global educational and research authority in the health and fitness industry and a trusted resource for providing scientific-based information that empowers consumers and practitioners to live healthier lives.


 


In 2005, Mens Health magazine selected him as Health and Fitness Visionary of the Year for his role in shaping the future of the health and fitness industry. Dr. Clark is an active contributor to the community and founded Rising Stars, a non-profit organization that educates and empowers underprivileged children and awards scholarships to high school students nationwide in need.


 


Dr. Clark is the team physical therapist to the Phoenix Suns and provides regular counsel and evaluations of the players and aids in conditioning and injury rehabilitation procedures. He oversees NASMs strategic partnerships with numerous other NBA and Major League Baseball teams, and his clients include major award winners, world champion figure skaters, NBA All-Stars, NBA Most Valuable Players, National Football League All-Pros, national champions, Olympic gold medalists and hall of fame athletes.


 


An accomplished lecturer, author and researcher, Dr. Clark is an adjunct professor at the California University of Pennsylvania and the Arizona School of Health Sciences. Last year he published the book Optimum Performance Training: Basketball (HarperCollins, 2006). He is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and several other personal trainer and fitness industry organizations.
