Personal Fitness Professionals Knowledge of MRSA

    Dear Personal Fitness Professional:

We are conducting a research project to determine the knowledge level regarding Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) in personal fitness professionals. It is our hope, that with this research, we will gather data that will help us understand how personal fitness professionals use their knowledge to prevent its spread in facilities in which they are employed.

Because you are personal fitness professional, you are invited to take part in this research project. Your participation is entirely your choice, and you may change your mind and quit participating at any time, with no penalty to you.

It is not possible to identify all potential risks in research procedures, but the researcher(s) have taken reasonable safeguards to minimize any known risks. However, by taking part in this research, you may benefit by learning about how MRSA is spread and how to prevent it in your facility. However, you may not get any benefit from being in this study.

The survey should take about 10 minutes to complete. Demographic questions along with questions about MRSA make up the survey. By taking the survey you are giving your consent to participate. This study is anonymous. That means that no one, not even members of the research team, will know that the information you give comes from you.

If you have any questions about this project, please contact Dr. Pamela Hansen at 231-8093 or pamela.j.hansen@ndsu.edu. You have rights as a research participant. If you have questions about your rights or complaints about this research, you may talk to the researcher or contact the NDSU Human Research Protection Program at 701.231.8908, ndsu.irb@ndsu.edu, or by mail at: NDSU HRPP Office, NDSU Dept 4000, P O Box 6050, Fargo, ND 58108-6050.
