The NSCA Certification Commission is adding more flexibility to registering and scheduling for the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) and the NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer® (NSCA-CPT®) exams beginning January 31, 2007. With the availability of computer-based testing, every step in the registration process will be streamlined to allow eligible CSCS and NSCA-CPT exam candidates to register online to take an exam, pay the fee and then take the exam as soon as two days later.

Candidates will be able to choose their preferred exam location, day and time by going to the NSCA Certification Commission's website (www.nsca-cc.org) or by calling a toll-free customer support number. With either method, the candidates will receive confirmation immediately if they are scheduled for their preferred session time and location. Unlike other national testing systems, all candidates who schedule online or via the call center to take a computer-based exam will access the same database, so it truly will be "first-come, first-served."

Computer-based testing allows the NSCA Certification Commission to expand the number of sites candidates can choose from  all testing centers are within two hours of the top 175 metropolitan cities in the country. With a test center capacity of more than 300,000 available testing slots, computer-based testing candidates will be able to take the CSCS or NSCA-CPT exam when and where they want.

Computer-based testing also decreases the wait time between taking an exam and receiving the results, and there will be no longer be a need for a registration deadline. For computer-based testing candidates, exam time slots will be available at all 150+ testing sites Monday through Friday (with Saturday dates added later), and candidates who meet all of the prerequisites to take an exam will receive their score results at the site, immediately after the exam.
